Announcing: the new
Medium Voltage CR922 - a 5,000 kW rental load bank. Eliminates step down transformers, low voltage
cables and labor costs.
ComRent
International announces a new rental load bank, the CR922. The CR922 is a 5,000 kW rental load bank
for 5/15 kV tests. The unit connects directly at 4,160 (4,000 kW) and 13,800 VAC (5,000kW) with
three shielded insolated cables and one ground cable. Load step resolution is 400 kW at 4,160 VAC
and 500 kW at 13,800 VAC. Resistive load steps for 5/15 kV are 400/500/ 800/1,000, 1,200/1,500, and
1,600/2,000 kW. Controls and fans require external power; 180A, 480/3/60 Hz.
The design of the CR922 eliminates step down transformers, low voltage cables, and the
associated labor and freight. The load bank is equipped with a detachable unloading system, which
does not require cranes or forklifts to unload upon arrival.
The CR922 is ideal for start up and verification of 2,000 kW or higher distributed
energy projects such as turbine or hydro generators, diesel plants, biomass/methane, wind farms,
tidal systems and fuel cell systems. It is available for weekly, monthly or extended period rentals.
Clay Taylor, President of ComRent International noted “The CR 922 is easier to use
than portable substations. No permitting is required since utility connection is not needed. The
unit was designed to provide quicker, easier and less expensive load bank tests at 4,160 or 13,800
Volts AC.”
ComRent International provides rentals, long term leasing and sales of load banks,
electronic loads, and power cables. Numerous applications include testing generators, turbines,
batteries, UPS systems and power distribution equipment. The inventory includes units from 4 kW to
5,000 kW, resistive AC & DC, capacitive, and reactive AC 300 to 3750 KVAR. The load banks and
electronic loads are distributed amongst a network of stocking depots nationwide, allowing customers
to receive the load banks and electronic loads quickly and with minimal freight costs.
